Gingerbread houses are so much fun...........

Josclyn and Me with are finished gingerbread house.

Our house again from the front. We build excellent houses if you ask me

Theral, Keagon, and Josclyn in front of Therals and Kegans house.

The long waited and anticiapted picture of our Tree.

So here is the story behind the gingerbread houses. I called to talk to my sister Jerusha, and my niece Jocslyn want to talk to me. I asked her if she was going to make a gingerbread house. And she told me that she didn’t know. So a few day later I was calling my sister again and my nephew answered her phone. I talked to Kegan for a few minutes and then Jocslyn got on the phone. She asked my in the cutest of voice if “I would make a gingerbread house with her.” I couldn’t say no and let her down.

On Tuesday, I had a meeting in Salt Lake with the Colorado River Salinity Science Team. After that, Theral (who had taken the day off from work) and I meet up with my sister and my mother and father. We saw my Kegan’s kindergarten Christmas Program got some food and then head over to the Foshee house to build some gingerbread houses.

The night before I had bought candy to put on the gingerbread houses. I bought two gingerbread kits because they were marked down and it made it cheaper to build them. On the plus side I didn’t have to make icing which is always a mess.

So Theral and I put them together by melting sugar to have it act as the glue. And then we all got busy decorating them. The best part was Jocslyn tried to eat as much candy as she could. She got out a little cup and kept filling it with different candy and her mouth was always full with candy. It was great. Theral helped Kegan. Theral did point out at the end that Kegan made all the decision as to were the candy should go. I basically did mine and Jocslyn. They both turned out really good. It was a lot of fun to do that with them.

So my sister called my today to tell me that she had gotten my Christmas card which she liked and that the candy keeps disappearing from the gingerbread houses. I never eat the candy off them but apparently Jocslyn and Kegan keep getting snacks from them. I thought that was great. Kids get way wound up at Christmas which is fun to see.

So my new goal from today until Christmas is to get way wound up. Theral might not like it but I’m good for life.

Holidays keep you busy............ Sometimes with stuff that doesn't require any brain cells

For the Last two weeks are life has been very eventful, full of activity. So this is a quick summary of what has been going on if our lives since the last post.

Super busy getting things done for Christmas such as shopping, wrapping presents, decorating, cleaning, cooking, and getting Christmas cards ready to send. You may not get a card for the whole month to look at and cherish but I hope that you get humor out of it when you read it. I do a top ten list and people are starting to do the same thing. I think it is great. Copying is truly one of the best ways to falter someone.

So some nights it is wrapping presents, which I’m not very good at. I try but it is sad to look at some of them. So if you get a present from us and it doesn’t look very good, just realize that it was wrapped with love. Remember love.

We got a real Christmas tree. We managed to decorate and put it up with out getting into little fights. Theral vision of it was nice and it turned out good. All the ornaments that I bought for the Christmas mobile (that failed miserable last year) mixed and match perfectly. So this year all we needed were light and some garland. I was going to take a picture of the tree and put it on the blog. Guess what, that hasn’t happen yet. That is some of the reason that I have not posted in a while. The same day we got the tree I did pull out all my sand dollars that I found while in Washington and clean them. We went to see the movie ‘Enchanted’. I thought it was cute.

We got some more meat from my parents. My new goal is to use it. So I look through the cook books and find things that I would like to make. So far everything has turned out good. They're things that I would make again. I am trying to use the food in the deep freeze. It is amazing how it can turn into a black hole and suck stuff in and you don’t realize it. Then the next thing you know is that you have 3 hams and tons of ground beef to use.

I skied for the first time this year last Saturday while Theral did fix it projects at the house. It was great. We need more snow. So pray for snow. This is coming from the avid skier and water resource person.

I feel like I am adjusting to winter better this year then last year. I’m warmer. I do have a few theories on this. I don’t want to take the time to write them out and explain them. I don’t want to get stuck in inversion land. This might happen. In Logan we already have the hazy look happening.

Hello Snow!!!

Ok…… Nothing really happened last week. I finished the Oman Family Calendar. I did have to call me sister Annicka a few times to get her photos. She had some really funny ones of her kids. I got to look through photos from everyone in the family. I did get to put a photo of each person on it for their birthdays. I went with humor shots for those ones. Some of my family might be mad at me but I don’t care. I will get entertainment from looking at them.
We went to Snowbasin on Saturday to get my human resources information filled out. Got everything taken care of. We then went to Costco and got a few items. Theral did make me laugh. Apparently I just buy what I want so he is having a hard time getting me something that would surprise me for Christmas. I think it is cute.
We stop by Loveina’s because it snowed and I needed a picture of Theral and me to finish off a gift. All I will say is that Sean was in fine form. Big old bum……. If you ask me. People should really think about what is appropriate behavior. I tap into my crazy sometimes but some behavior can not be explained as crazy. Moving on…..
Dose anyone have any good books to recommend me? The writers strike is going to leave a few evening open. No comedy Thursday or Heroes Monday. So I think that I will get a few new hobbies, read more books, and play games that will drive Theral insane.
On my friends blog she made a list of what she was thankful for. It was really sweet and cute. So I’m going to copy her and list a few things that I’m thankful for. In no order of importance:
Theral
Puffy Coat
Ski’s (And all the ski’s that I might one day own)
My Mom and Dad
My Job
My body
Chocolate
Honey Buns
Nalgene Bottles (I’m saving the planet, no water bottles in the land fills for me)
Water
Christ
And a lot more……………..

Words of Comfort.

Dose that look like the face of Man who needs to be a Dad?

Theral’s mother told him while we were visiting them over the Thanksgiving break that he need some kids so he didn’t have so much free time on his hands. My response was “No. No. no. no, no, no, no, no….. No he doesn’t.” Theral is not ready to be a father and I’m not ready to be a mother but Theral has too much time on his hands and having kids would solve that. Theral and I would potential fight about money, rising them, having them, naming them, who is going to change the diapers, who gets to clean up the puke stains, and most importantly who is going to get up in the middle of the night. Let’s have kids because we have too much time on our hands. (I am really being sarcastic here.) I could go off on that for a while but I’m going to behave myself. I do laugh when I think about it because it is so off the mark from what Theral and I really need. I then think that it was said in my view by a crazy old lady and you can never take to much what crazy old ladies say as reality or fact. Crazy old ladies outlooks on the world are definitely for my entertainment because they just don’t get it. Getting old is going to be fun.

Moving on to Thanksgiving. We went to my sister Jerusha house in American Fork. It was fun. My parents and all my sister were up. We took family pictures, Mariah called the men useless which Jeff took to heart. I cooked, played a singing game and got booed off stage. Jerusha and Rob got a pool table and a ping pong table. All I wanted was to play ping pong the whole weekend. I love Ping Pong. Let me say that again, I really like playing ping pong. Doubles is even more entertaining then playing singles. I have schemed in my mind how I can get a ping pong table in my house. The only way to do that is to give up a room. Master bedroom, living room, or kitchen would have to go. This might work I just need to think about it a little bit more.

For Thanksgiving dinner I did vegetables. I made a green pea and carrot glaze stuff that I really like. I did make a squash soup which was good but maybe not for Thanksgiving. I’m finishing off the rest of that today for lunch. Jerusha did try to get us to take a lot of the desert home. Theral and I don’t need desert. I have bought smaller cake pans because we don’t need a full cake. Don’t fret we didn’t leave her with a lot of turkey; she sent that home with us.

Saturday we did get some one on one time with Theral’s Mom and Dad. Their van needs some more repairs. So as the Van was getting fixed we visited with them. Thus the comment that started off the blog. I think that Vaun gets me more then Renee.

Theral got a kite for his birthday. It came in the mail and we put it together last night. We are hoping for some wind to fly it in. But it snowed today and it was the First Snowfall of the year. So we might need snow boots to go fly. I love the snow.

We did buy the vacum that the little old ladies recommended. I am amazed at how much dirt it picks up every time that I vacum. It picks up more and more every time.

The last week

What has been going on for Theral and I………. Well let me tell you.

I was planning on having Friday night being Theral’s B-Day celebration. I got home at 6:00 pm and listed off numerous thing that we could go do. Theral took a little bit of time to make up his mind. So a little bit after 8:00 o’clock we were on our way.

Friday night a store in Logan was having a Midnight Madness Sale. We spent over an hour and a half in the store. I was looking for new cross training shoes. So in between trying to get some help and trying on shoes, we were there for some time. Theral did try on some shoes. He decided not to get them because his other pair is still good. So I bought some shoes because they were having buy 1 get the 2nd pair 50% off. So I thought that it was the prices on the wall. But no it was not, it was on the MSRP. So the shoes on the wall were marked down slightly. So when I my purchase total came up it was more then I was anticipating. (I have gotten the deal before on the wall prices) So the next day I did a little bit on internet shopping. I found both pairs in a wide online for 75 cents more then what I paid. (Technical I should wear an 8 ½ but because my feet are so wide I general were a 9 ½. So finding the shoes in a wide is a big deal.) So on Saturday I returned the shoes and bought them on line. They should be here sometime this week.

So getting back to Friday night, when we left the store we were both hungry and needed food. Because of the time (it was 9:40) we could either go rock climbing or eat. So we ate. We went to a local placed called Firehouse that dose pizza, pasta, and salads. Ate had a good time and went home and watched a movie.

Saturday is a whole other story. We had a primary activity to practice the primary program that was Sunday. So that went fine. As I was ordering my shoes I heard the neighbors vacuuming. Are vacuum has been on the frizzy for a while. After the primary activity we went shopping for a vacuum. While in Shopko, Theral had a nice little chat with some old ladies and they told him about the vacuum they had bought at Target which was the best vacuum they had every used. I was in the bathroom while he had this conversation. So a vacuum that had old ladies stamp of the best vacuum they have ever used made me realize that is the vacuum that I want. So we will pick it up sometime this week.

Later the night we meet up with Loveina and Sean and a lot of Loveina’s coworkers to got to dinner in Salt Lake and then a B52 concert. (They sing Love Shack to place the band.) She is working in the ER so we got to eat with some nurses and two Trauma surgeons. I really liked the concert. I have not been to one in a while. Loveina called Friday to see if we wanted to go and I said yes.

Sunday day was not a good day for us to be teaching kids. After the program they were all wound up. Within 10 minutes of having them I had made a mistake and made two of them cry about ownership of items. Things went down hill from that point. Thankfully Theral was around. But it even pushed his buttons. By the end three of the five had cried, two to of them more then once.

Ski movies, Birthdays and more

So last week we had are friend Clint stay with us Thursday and Friday night. His bother lives in town but his wife doesn’t like him for some reason. So when he is in town he stays with Theral and I. Clint has a way of interrupting our schedule. But it was fun having him around. Friday we went to the Warren Miller show. I love seeing people ski/board big mountains because not everyone can do it and it also takes a lot of skill. The movie was like 80 to 90 percent jibbing and people hucking off stuff and landing. Very few people turning and showing skills, in my opinions an idiot can huck and land in powder. Also so a ton of underwear was shown, boys doing trick and the only thing covering there hinny (aka butt) is underwear. I have decided when I have a child and if they wear pants so low that their underwear is the only thing coving vital parts bye bye underwear. It will go down in a flaming ball of glory and my child can wear their pants correct or show the world the goods. Let’s talk about decency people…

So Saturday I had training thing at Snowbasin. Theral went for a bike ride while I got the 411 on ski instructing this year. I got done early because HR could not come and so I have to go up again to take care of that stuff. I ended up waiting for Theral for two hours. Good think I love him because my patience’s was getting really thin. We then went and visited Loveina and Sean. They fed us and we had a nice little chat with them. Baby Lenna is at a really cute stage. It was fun to get her to giggle and laugh.

Sunday our Primary class was in fine form. I had to be a mean disciplinary to get them to behave. Theral is meaner then me and I was the meanest that I have ever been. What do you expect when you have little boys that are extremely wound up and in a confined space and sitting next to each other? Angels. I don’t think so.

Monday was Theral 31st Birthday. We got a wakeup call from his bother Mike in the morning. As we were watching Hero’s (seriously what a cool TV show) my parents called and wished him Happy Birthday. My Dad sang to him and it was entertaining. I have yet to get him a present. It is not for lack of ideas but Theral’s inability to make a choice. Theral did move the raft from the garage into the house for the winter. They say it is better for them to be in a stable temperature. What I really want is a smaller raft and all the trimmings.

We found out yesterday that Theral niece Lauren is getting married. She is Mike and Jenny’s daughter. She graduated from high school this past May and is getting married December 28. Her fiancĂ©e has returned from his mission within the last six months. I think that she should have a cupcake wedding cake. I would make those cupcakes for her. I love cupcakes.

Stoney Got Married

My friend Stoney went to the Las Vegas wedding commissioner’s office for Family Home Evening Monday night and got married. That is all the information that I know. Her name is Angela Marie Smith. I am very happy for him. I have a lot of question and he has yet to answer them. I just thought that I would share that with the world. I don’t know how long he has know her, what she does, or why they eloped. So many questions so little answers…………………….

Cousin D'Nell ~ heard that you meet Loveina. Tried to call you and I think that you number has changed because the voice mail that I got was a man. So if you read this please call me.

I got my blood drawn yesterday to have it tested again for my Thyroid. While I was in the doctor’s office I saw the skiing magazine gear guide issue on the wall. Theral really wanted this issue. We have made a few efforts to track down this down. Theral is looking at it and I'm going to return it on my next Doctors visit. I really didn't have any qualms about taking it because it was a September magazine (which means they got it in the middle of August) and it looked like it hadn’t been touched. In a doctors office any magazine that looks new after two months in the waiting room is one they are not going to miss. And normally I bring my own magazines to read so I don’t touch ones that possible could be inflicted with germs of sick people. Flu season is here. It is all the air borne illness that get you.

I also got a cavity filled yesterday. In and out in under thirty minutes. It was the quickest Dentist visit I have ever had. I need to get back to work.

Catching up.....

Sorry have not posted in a while. Only excuses are that I’m lazy and that I forgot to do it. So I have not posted since the 12th of October. We didn’t do anything really fun that weekend or I can’t remember. I need write down what is going on in our life as it happens not as an after thought.
We did go to St. George in October. It was nice to see my two of my sisters family and Theral’s Uncle and Aunt. We really didn’t do anything beside visit and hit a few stores. I needed to get out of Logan because the weather was going to be bad and I wanted a nice sunny place. Unfortunately we did have a head wind all the way down and back. We did fly the kite in SG and I thought because of a few gust that we were going to lost it or that it was not very good for it to be up in it. Theral’s B-day is coming up and he needs to decide what he wants because it could end up with a bigger kite or some crappy thing. He needs to make up his mind, the second are tick until he turns 31.
I did get sick from this trip with a cold. It is still lingering but I’m not taking cold medication like five times a day so I think I might be on the tail end of it. But it might also be a sinus infection that I need meds for because it is the second cold for the month of October for me.
Theral was a proctor for the ACT in Preston and earned some money so that he can by himself a ski helmet. On a side note we did by some new skis for us. And when we stop by my sister Jerusha house we got my bother-in-law Rob to by some too. It is fun to see people by things that I think they will have fun with.
I stayed home on Halloween and handed out Trick-or-treat candy. Theral was a chaperon for a movie they were going to be showing at the high school. Little kids are so much fun to hand candy out to. I really enjoy giving out candy. It makes me happy. I was giving out two pieces of candy to all the kids. I did run out and that was my goal. I didn’t buy candy until the night before so I would not be tempted to eat it. I did have a dental appointment on Halloween. I get to go back in this week and have a small filling fixed. I have a lot of watches for cavity development on my left side of my mouth. Apparently I don’t brush as good on the left side because I’m left handed and my wrist dexterity doesn’t like to flex that way.
This past Saturday, I ran a 10k and Theral did a 5k. My neighbor need some people to do it with, so we signed on. We both have matching shirts from the event (that is why we did the run for the shirts of course).
We don’t know were we are going for Thanksgiving. I thought a cruise might be fun or going to Death Valley. My sister called me last week and put the heat on to go to her house so that my family could take family photos. She made me feel guilty that I didn’t want to spend the holiday with family. I do have issue with my family and Theral’s family ~ maybe years of therapy will help me solve these unresolved feelings that I have. She was definitely in a testy moody. My friend Tammie did invite us to her house. Theral sister called to ask what are plans were because she is trying to get the Mikesell monthly dinner to be Thanksgiving. So far I think that my sister is going to win. Man can they lay on the guilt. That is what they are really good at. So no fun cool vacations for us for the week of Thanksgiving. I do have vacation days that I need to use. I did ask Theral yesterday what we were going to do for Thanksgiving and his reply was that we have three weeks to deal with it. But what he doesn’t realize is that the guilt is going to get me.
I did by some small cake pans. I have decided when I want cake, I’m going to make enough for four people not twenty. I didn’t realize how long this was getting. Ok in the next post I will address another thing in my list.
The photo is from our trip to Washington.

A quick and dirty account

So this past weekend was full of social engagements. Friday night we went to Riverdale hot springs resort with my friend Tammie and her family. It is north of Preston. She got pulled over in Preston for having a head light out. She didn’t get a ticket but the cop wanted to know how she liked her Honda Pilot.

Saturday I had a work part. We went to the Celebration center here in Logan to have some extreme go-carting competitions. I wasn’t the worst driver but I wasn’t the best. Theral did get into a few tight pinches here and there. We had fun. Later that evening we went over to one of my bosses houses and had a barbeque. He made some fish Tacos that were so good. He let me take the leftovers home. Score!!. Theral spent the evening talking to another teachers and I was educated in how my boss makes his homemade beer. It sounds really easy. Every person who has had his beer says it is extremely good. He is getting comparisons to European beer which is good.

Sunday we had the monthly Mikesell family diner at his sister Loveina’s house. Nothing too exciting happened. Lot’s of kids running around. I did get to see Swen and Stephanie’s latest addition to the family. Theral did pick out 36 ears of corn for people to eat. I still have half that amount that we get to eat (I think that he went overboard but I’m not going to say anything.) They did make comments about his hair.

Today at work has been the same. I’m getting ready for a meeting tomorrow and next week that I have. It will be what I work on for the next 6 to 8 months. Yippee.

I have been burning cd’s to work out to. I need to buy like fifty more dollars in Itunes music and wow life would be cool. Maybe I will do that come the first of October after I get paid.

The picture is just shot of my newphew Keagan, looking like a little kid.

Theral is Done with Harry Potter!!

During a marathon reading day for Theral, he finished Harry Potter. I am so happy. No more him getting mad at me because I'm talking to loud on the phone. He is have Harry let down because what will he do with his time (I’m currently reading his D-Day book which he is jealous about). I have a Theral-to-do-list. I hope that he can get it done.

Saturday when went to the last demolition derby of the season with Cousin D’Nell. I love it!! It had a heat of just trucks, the truck I was hoping to win got pushed over the berm. It had on its tail gate the quote “I’m bringing sexy back”. It wasn’t enough for it to win. The car that I like from the first heat won in the final bash’em up. Car 101! Theral got to indulge his redneck side and I enjoyed it so much that I think that I will try to go to some more of them next year. D’Nell was having anxiety at the First but she got over that and was able to cheer along with us. It was great fun.

We then when to the USU alumni hockey game to see our friend Clint play. We only got to watch the third quarter but man was it worth it to see Clint skate.
(For all those out their wondering who Clint is he is the person that introduced Theral and I. With out him I would not have my honey buns.)

In going back to the condo, D’Nell car had gotten booted. Theral is really worked up about this and had renewed his search to find us a house.

I made some tomatoes soup from scratch and froze it. This way I will have some quick easy meal on hand. I just need to vacuum pack them.

Website to see the raft in water!

http://snakeriver.elevationimaging.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=475132
The boat is follows a yellow raft. Theral is at the oars and we have a row the frame on. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see me in a duckie and geting worked over and thrown out.

Enjoy!!

A renewed commitment to posting on my Blog

To all who are about to read this you can’t be mad because I haven't sent the site to anyone yet.

I am recommitting to posting on my blog. I think that I will try to do it once a week. If I have a few free minutes at work, I will try to maybe do it more then once. On to the important stuff that is going on in T and L land are.......

Theral is reading the Harry Potter series and is in book 7. He has his little moments of frustration at the book that I find really funny and cute. But of course I know what is going to happen and when he comes up with a wrong theory, I just smile and encourage, but laughing secretly to myself about it. One of the more amusing parts is him just laughing at the characters in the book. I keep hearing him laugh while he is reading and it is really amusing to watch. (One of my pet peeves is he get mad about any spoilers that I talk about with people on the phone or in person so it is very good that he is getting close to the end!)

Today was hat day at Theral's High school. He took that hat that he is absoultly in love with and freaks out if anything happens to it to wear. I told him not to be upset in the children make fun of him. I will post a Pic of him in the hat. He looks good in it but I didn't think it was hat day material. Oh, ya..... Theral hasn't cut his hair in forever and I think it is totally sexy. This is the longest that he has ever had it in his life.

Theral commented to one of his co-workers (the assistant principal) that he was looking a little jaundice. He then goes home to his wife and says, "Mikesell said I looked a little jaundice." His wife who is a nurse agree and got him a appointment the next day. Turns out it was hepatitis A which he pick up while he was in Mexico this summer.

On to news of me. I got my blood work back this week. Everything looks fine except that my thyroid looks as if it might have started to die on me. I’m in the early phase of developing hypothyroidism. I’m on some meds and we will see how that turns out in around six weeks. I did realize that I don’t have blood taken from my body very well. I started to feel faint, dizzy, light headed and clammy and that is before they put the rubber band on my arm to make my veins pop out to get blood. But I was strong and persevered by not looking and practicing my yoga breathing.

Last weekend we went rafting in Jackson on the Snake. We went with some neighbor of ours, the Hills. It was fun. I love rafting. There are some photos on a website of us going through a rapid by a private company. I will post link to that later.

What happen last week

Last week Theral was home for his first week of the summer. It is really hard to adjust to not having your husband working. This week is definitely better.

So the week of Memorial Day, Theral and I floated the Middle Fork of the Salmon. I have put photos from that trip onto Snap fish. The trip was great. The more we float it the better it will get. You get to know the river more and certain sections of the canyon become your favorite. I rowed a good chunk of it while Theral lived up his Kayaking dream in the inflatable ducky we browed. We drove down to the put in for the main Salmon and we found out that the permit date didn’t start until the 20 of June. If I didn’t have to get back to work, I think Theral and I would have put on. Oh what would it be like to have your summer off? Next year we might be floating the Grand Canyon and the middle again. It will be a good time. Those trips will totally be something to look forward to.

We got home and Theral then had to get the boat ready to launch on Desolation Canyon. I could not go with him and he invited two of his nephews to go with him (Mike’s twins). I then had to be the pick-up person. So I pick up the twins on Sunday and my Dad picked up the river gear and drove it back to his house. Theral had a flight the next morning to fly to the put in and pick up the truck. He then drove the short way to my parent’s house got the river gear and came back to Logan. That happened Monday the 11 of June.

While Theral was gone I went to work, watched some movies, worked out, and cleaned the house. We had left it in a total state of mess and destruction. I didn’t get the house as cleaned as I would have liked. So this passed weekend we clean some more. The only thing left that we need to clean are the bed rooms upstairs. (Some of the closet, pantry, and laundry room do need some special organizational care but until I can get a man who has nothing to do with his summer to focus on a honey do list they can’t be done. I need shelves people, shelves.)

So we did go see Oceans 13. I liked it. It was very similar to the Oceans 11. The plot was good.

So this week Theral parents, Vaun and Renee, will be visiting Tuesday. We have his Grandpa Lakes Birthday this weekend. I have been asked to make a cake. I’m thinking of making a strawberry pie from scratch. What do you think? An ideas on what will be a mouth watering delectable.

I do have my yearly female doctor visit as well. I’m excepting to get a clean bill of heath on that one.

I’m sure I will have plenty to say about all of that. I might post some more this week let’s hope so. It could be very funny.

Pic of Us

My family at my nieces baby blessing. We are in the back. We are the ones with out a child.
Theral and I on the middle fork of the salmon. It is hard taking photos of yourself.

Us in the Grand Canyon.

Someone else taking the photo. Don't we look good. This was at Thanksgiving last November.
Theral really loved the beard but shaved it off.

Where Mikeman comes from?

Mikeman is what Theral and mines celebrity name would be. For example TomKat (Tom Cruise and Katie Homes). There was a few options for Theral and I. The following is a list of our choices. (Remeber are names are Theral Mikesell and Lizzette Oman)
Thette
Lizral
Osell
Mikeman
The only name that seemed fun to say was mikeman. So I like to think if we were famous that our names in the tabloids would be reduces to Mikeman.
