This should have been posted at the end of July. Pretend thats when it got posted.

Top Ten List of Things that Happened on our Middle Fork of the Salmon Trip

10. Lizzette was the only girl.
9. Karl who was 72 years old rode in my boat and had a 44 magnum strapped to his side the whole time. (Way nice guy.)
8. Theral was the caboose. He got the nickname of mother goose because he was in charge of the ducky (Inflatable kayaks, IK’s)
7. Guy missed the corrected camp site and we ended up camping not at lower jackass but Guy’s jackass camp.
6. The camera was dropped in the water twice. The first time it recovered but the second time it could not come back.
5. We didn’t need to pack because some many other people were packing the heat.
4. Needed one more day on the river. Five days is a little bit fast.
3. I messed up my right birdie finger. I don’t know how it happened but my finger still hurts.
2. Guy is adopting us. We totally have a Middle Fork connection for the rest of our lives.
1. Theral broke a rib. His downstream oar caught some rocks and then came back and hit him and lifted him off the floor of the boat and totally gave him a good jab in the ribs.

I will keep posting about what we have been up to. It is going to take a few days to get caught up.

Driving across the country…………..

Theral had his family reunion last week in Nauvoo, Illinois. (WOW, my spelling is way off today.) He made it out with any mishaps. Theral also made it back with out any mishaps. He managed to do that with twizzlers, wheat thins and books on tape. If he ever needed a second job he could be a trucker. I wouldn’t like that very much but the man can drive. Theral forgot to take the camera so sorry I can’t post any pictures. I told him to go buy a disposable camera but I don’t think that he did. He did bring back some gingerbread cookies for me to eat. They were good.

Last week seemed to go by in a blur. I had class in the morning and then work in the afternoon. This week we have a river rescue course in Green River for the weekend. It should prove to be useful. It is on my least favorite stretch of white water in the state, the Green River Daily section. It looks as if once we get back from that we will be floating the Middle Fork. That should be fun.

Busy Busy Busy

So Theral bought a kayak. That is a long story. He bought it from a guy in Grand Junction. He was going to go kayak ‘Straight Canyon’ which is the canyon up the road from were I grew up at. He couldn’t drop it off at my parent’s house because my parents were not going to be home (There was a primary election last Tuesday, who knew!). So we moved on to plan B. Theral and I decided to go and float the San Rafael River this past weekend. It was great. Theral wanted to go pick up the kayak in Grand Junction Friday night so he could use it on Saturday. That didn’t happen. We pick up the IK’s (inflatable kayaks) from Rick and ended up visiting for a while. So we decided to leave at 5:00 am to head down instead of 12:00 am. Theral didn’t have his phone on him and poor Steve (that’s the guy Theral bought it from) left a really funny message asking what was going on. Have no fear, Steve was has heading to Ogden on Sunday to go and float the Middle Fork of the Salmon. So Sunday, he met him in Wellington and pick up his new water toy. My Dad and Theral brother bother thought it looked a little small, which it is not because the newer kayaks are shorter. So Theral took it to the pool last night to work on his roll and it was bad. The kayak was set up for Steve not Theral’s body. So when Theral got home he started working on getting the kayak set up for him. So I will post more about how this new adventure is working out.

Theral is headed back for his family reunion in Illinois. I’m a little bit concerned about it due to the flooding that has been happening. I need to call and talk to a few people to figure out what are the conditions. If it is at all questionable we will have a talk.

So we had a nice visit with my parents this past weekend. There was some great one liner’s from my Mom and Dad that made the trip all worth while in my book.
“Quit micro-managing his dumps.”
“I associated a docking station with Star Trek.”
“I’m not going to visit you in Logan because you haven’t used the (computer) stuff that I sent you.”
“We can pull the trailer to Green River for that.”
“They are having trouble. I know they are having trouble.” We did because the four-wheeler we used for the shuttle battery died and it took an hour to charge the battery to load it.

Classic Theral and Lizzette, we thought we had floated further then we had and took a few long stops at the wrong location looking for pictographs panels. When it hit 7:30 it was time to bust it out to get done. We had five to six miles to go and we totally were done in an hour and ten minutes. The float was really pretty. I should have taken more pictures but it was in a dry bag and not really easy accesses.

I use an internet alias for things that I don’t want people to have my name for. Yesterday in the mail I got return address labels with that name on it from some wildlife fund group. Classic. I’m going to use them because the address is correct and I think that mail will get returned to me. Mail is coming to me with that name why can’t it get returned to me with that name. I got two things from triple A the other week, one for my name and the other for the internet alias. I’m going to post how the return address label looks. It is classic. Yet to use a better phrase, LENGENDARY.

WOW!!! What has been going on in our world.

Sorry for the little rant that you had to endure during the last post. I feel much better. Although, I just read through it and I need to edit my writing a little bit better. I can communicate well with writing I promise. Sometime I need to reread what I have written out loud. Moving on to more important information. We went to Jackson on Saturday to raft the Snake. It was running around 18,500 cfs. It was huge. A run down was taking us around and hour and 5 minutes. It was a lot of fun. I forgot to put sunscreen on my feet and I got a little bit sun burned. The weather was sunny and perfect and the water wasn’t that could. I rowed the boat the first run but I chickened out and Theral rowed Lunch Counter. (It was huge and a lot of fun in the boat.) The second run I rowed as well and I hit Lunch Counter ok. The third run Theral rowed and he did a great job. He did such a good job that both of us fell out of the boat. No need to fear the boat didn’t flip, but righted and rode the wave train like a pro with both of use riding along the side. Below are the
links to the photos from floattographs.com.

http://snakeriver.elevationimaging.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=550160 http://snakeriver.elevationimaging.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?&category=550677&start=18 http://snakeriver.elevationimaging.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?&category=550921&start=9

Good news. Theral just brought a kayak. So I can row the boat and he can float along the side. It will be such fun. I’m way excited for him. As a side note, I may note ever be a big water rower but I want to be along for the ride. So this might just be a hobby until I master the big water skills. So far, I’m a safety run gal. I look for the safest line and take it. But Theral and I have talked and depending on trips he can just strap the kayak to the boat and row what I don’t feel confident to row. What kind of adventures await us on the water time will only tell.

Maybe I will keep floating the Snake and if I enjoy one image a lot I will make Christmas cards out of it. It would be legendary.

WoW another post, what will people think. Deso Pic and video

Pictures from Deso. I have alot more but I was having trouble getting them to post. So enjoy what I have for you to look at. Also I loaded video of both boats running Wire Fence. Thanks again Heather for being the filmographer.

WHAT................

Ok, this post is going to have the lastest and an update as to what happened in May.

But I just going to rant for a minute. How do you feel about telemarketers calling your cell phone? Personally I find it unbearable.

So over the last month Theral and I have been getting calls two numbers that are almost identical. We avoided the phone calls because we understood what they were. Yesterday, to get them to stop calling me I answered the phone. I think the thing that was the biggest surprise for me is that my sister gave my number out to people so that she could get some coupons. I listened to the spill and the more I learned about the so called dinner club the more mad I became about my cell number being given to a telemarketer. I think the thing the mad me the most mad is that my sister did it so she could get some two for one dinning deal. I think that act was extremely inconsiderate.

I would never give out family cell numbers just so I could get some two for one eating deal. I guess I have better cell etiquette then she dose.

So I called her up and told her not to give my cell phone out. I have a house number for the sort of thing. This sister is just racking up the points in my book. This same sister instigated a family feud as well. That is a long and a complicated story which leads to the fact that I’m not really trying to have a relationship with that sister and I have mother issues. Which by the way that I think are justified and which I have talked to people about. I need to work through these issues with my mother to determine what kind of relationship we are going to have in the future. For a solution to happen blame can’t happen and both parties need to work towards a mutual resolution.

On a side note, Theral got his bike almost put back together. On well, maybe tomorrow.

What happened to the Month of May

I didn’t tell you anything that happened. We put in on Desolation Canyon at the end of the month and the week before I was worked up about my flushing experiment on First Dam and getting ready for the river trip.

Trip was good. We had some great camp spots. I would like to take the lower part of the canyon slower and spend more time hiking and seeing things. My favorite things is seeing the sun come up on the canyon. It is truly a magical experience.

I got to fly from Green River to the put in. WOW!!!! It was fantastic. I got to see the canyon from a whole other view. We flew under some rain clouds and the rocks were so vibrant. I have photos that I will post but they are not going to even compare to the images in my head.

I have video of opening the lower level outlet on First Dam. So cool! Hydraulics in civil engineering are fantastic to see. I remember the first time that I saw a hydraulic jump in the field. I was so proud that I recognized it.

Ok!!!! Here we go.

I have been bad at updating on the blog lately. I have no reason for this. I just haven’t felt like writing anything about us. So hold on tight I’m going to give you an update as to what has been going on.

Theral had 4 papers due the last two weeks of the semester. So, Theral has been writing a lot. He had two 8-9 pagers, one 6-8, and one 10-12 pages. So he wrote his little heart out. I think that he did a good job. He got one A so far and the other grades have not been posted yet. But there was no break for him, he had another class that started this past Monday the 5th of May.

As a treat for him and to celebrate him being done with the last paper, we went out to ‘Iron Man’. It was cool. I would recommend you go see it. It is just a fun movie.

The last weekend in April we went to the San Rafael Swell to celebrate my mothers B-day. I of course got her some more display toys. We camped by the Wedge. My mother fear of heights prohibited us from camping at some of the more scenic camp spots. It was a fun weekend. Mariah’s little boy Corbin is a handful. Just off doing his own thing and not caring what others were doing. He is only 1 ½ so it was fun to see that. My dad and sisters had the camp trailers out. Saturday it was windy all day. Theral and I got some great dust in and on our tent. Theral just go the tent sprayed off and put away last night.

During last week, I took my final which I must say I think that I did really well on. I should probably go and pick it up. Thursday, I travel to Desert Lake for field trip with people from the USBR for my Desert Lake project. I drove all day. It was a good day. The wind was windy with a little cold nip to it. I can pick the days to be outside in wind. (Wind is the main reason that I refuse to move to certain parts of Wyoming. I don’t do the best in wind.)

Saturday was Theral’s niece Emmy’s baptism. It was nice. She seemed really excited. I remember my baptism. We also got to see some of Theral family. As an added bonus Loveina had a concert that night that she invited us to and so we went to it. So we got some culture. The music that was played was fun. We needed to get back to Logan to take care of my friends dog.

This week nothing new has happen. I did manage to get a huge bruise on my leg from falling down in the dark in the bedroom. My foot got caught in an opened drawer and I’m still not sure how I managed to do that. As a side note I also got a bruise on my forearm from where I caught myself on the dresser.

I’m going to post some photo’s. I downloaded from the camera. We had some priceless shots that need to be shared.

Not only do I have the gapper gape on the forehead but check out the neck.
What a tan line I have. It was not as dark the next morning. If it had been worse, I might not have left the house.

This is natural and people used to wear wigs to get this look.

It has been ten days since the last post….

What has happened in our lives? Nothing much. I took a test in my math class and did very poorly on it. I didn’t study as hard as I should have. But I did better then I expected. I think that if I do really well on the final that I can pull a B. It is not the grade that I want but considering how my emotions have been for the last month, I will take it.
Last week was not a good week for me.

Since I started my hypothyroid pill, I have to be careful about soy intake because it can bloke the drug absorption in my blood. I need to consume soy four hours or more after I take my pill. I have multivitamins that contain soy, normally I take them in the morning but since I started my pill I haven’t been taking them. I take them at night now. WOW!!! I feel really good. I find it amazing what having the right vitamins in your body can make you feel.

Work is going well. We are going to do the flushing event again on First Dam. Thanks to the snow pack and the current weather it should prove to be a good one. Theral and I got a river permit for Desolation Canyon. The put in date is May 24th. Everyone is invited to come. It is over Memorial Day weekend, and we will probably do a six day trip. This means you only need to take 3 days off from work to come. The flows should be really high (15,000 to 25,000 cfs) which means big whitewater on the Green. We have two boats people. It is going to be fun. Remember Desolation Canyon is in the Desert. The temps should be in the 80’s in the day time.

Theral is trying to get his paper written for his classes. Instead of having finals he has lots of papers due. School is going well for him. As always we are looking for a job in the Utah area for him to apply for. There are a lot of reasons for this.

So there is the update. I should have some more fun stuff to post later.

P.S. We get to talk in church on Sunday about service. It could be a disaster. I do have some cool pic of Deso to post. The post with just pictures is going to be legendary.

  • So I haven’t posted in a while. Here is the 411. We are doing well. I have a test this week in my math class that I’m kind of stressing about but come Friday at 2:00 pm I should start feeling much better.

Theral is doing swell with school as well. Theral had a bad 12 hour period that start on Friday and went into Saturday. On Friday night as we were pulling into the garage, Theral forgot that my bike was on top of the car (I was at Borders doing book shopping and Theral rode on the bike to the store, it was a teacher sale). Crack! The bike hit the garage. The bike luckily is ok. Theral pride took a hit. Granted I am to blame for half of it happening. Let’s just say that I had a very unique way of distracting him that made both of us want to roll down the windows and get out of the car as quick as possible. If I had been driving, I probably would have done it as well. The rack is fine but the bike carrier is toast; we have a few more dents and a little bit more paint missing from the car. I told Theral that he is making my car a hoop’dy car. A canoe fell off from the rack last fall and did some damage. Theral is thinking “Uh-Oh, Better get Maaco! ” I’m like what ever.

I really want a new Jetta Wagon diesel TDI that are coming to the market later this year.
    http://www.popularmechanics.com/blogs/automotive_news/4235586.html
It is a wagon that will get great gas mileage and looks way cool.

Back to Theral’s bad 12 hours. So Saturday on his second ski run of the day he broke his ski. Yes you read correctly he broke a ski. Luckily they are still under warranty so he will get a new pair. (I was like thank goodness, thanks big guy upstairs.)

My knee has been bothering me. It always starts after I teach a few wedge turns. So I have come to the conclusion that I love to ski, just don’t make me do wedge turns.

So to those of you who read the blog………. I have no idea of how many people do……….. I’m glad that you are reading my efforts. Thanks

A River Permit

Big Mallard on the Main Salmon

So I check the mail yesterday. (We normally only get the mail around twice a week.) I noticed a big manila envelope address to Arlin Mikesell (Using his first name is always a tip off) and it was for the North Fork Ranger District. Neither of use drew out for the Idaho Rivers that we put in for. The package looked suspiciously like a river permit envelope. I walked into the house and asked Theral if he had a river permit that I didn’t know about. I franticly ripped the envelope open to discover that we had a permit for the Main Salmon in August. Last year we called and got a cancellation permit but could not put on the river because of Fires and that is how we ended up in Washington, which I absolutely loved.

Theral did get a call about this but did not call back. We would only have 5 days for the float because he would need to start school. I asked him what are the odds that you could call in sick on your first day. He asked me how he could do that. And my reply was that we could just rent a satellite phone. His sickness could be diarrhea from drinking untreated water in the wilderness (which could be really close to the truth).

So on August 13, 2008 we have a permit. I found it very fortuitous because we just bought a beautiful boat. Water will be low but I guess we can take two boats. Any taker?????? Plenty of time to plan…… Work sicknesses and all………..

A trip to Washington………………..

Theral and I bought a beautiful Maravia river rafting boat from a great guy named Greg. We drove to Kennewick, Washington. The boat is so pretty. As we were driving away with it attached to the truck (it came with a trailer), I felt like we were getting to good of a deal. It has never been rolled (which is extremely rare) because proper storage of the boats is to have them half inflated.

Since we were only 4 hours from Annavon and Mike’s, we took a little drive. Saw some parts of Washington that I have never saw. So Saturday we hung out with the Mattinson’s. We visited two different state parks that were AWSOME! That evening we got to see Nic and Lindsey’s school play. It was fabulous. It was so entertaining, I really glad that we got to see it. It definitely didn’t seem like a elementary production. I was entertained the whole time, it was just brilliant. Nic was the lead and Lindsey was the cutest elephant. When it was over we visited where Zac and Ali work, “Laser Fun Zone”, to play some laser tag. I did better then Theral but we were not professionals. The more you play the better you are and we don’t play that much.

So Sunday we went to the first part of Sacrament because Ali was talking. Nic and Lindsey sang and Theral and I had a hard time not singing along. It was a song that we sing almost every Sunday in Primary.

The drive back…… We got lost in Vancouver, Washington trying to find a Traders Joe’s …….. Idaho didn’t go fast enough. That is the worst part of the drive. I did drive for a tank in both directions. Theral’s citric of my drive almost landed him in the driver seat for the whole drive.

So the boat is taking up half of the garage. Theral is checking out storage units and starting to look at house with three car garages. I will post some pic from the trip and the new boat.

Time Change

Can I state for the record that time changes are bad news. I do like having more light in my evenings. Don’t get me wrong I understand the idea and I am all for it. It is hard to jump forward and loss an hour. Granted I did take some night quill on Saturday night and it has messed with my body. It makes me sleep way to much for a few days. I just need to vent……….. And that is what the blog is for………………..

Skin canner and the flu

So I was going to post earlier but I got sick. The flu to be exact. It started to come on Sunday and by Wednesday I was in full worthless mode. I tried to work Monday and Tuesday. Monday went ok until I started to ache and all I wanted to do was lay down. Tuesday I woke up and felt good. Then the afternoon came and I felt like crap. Wednesday I woke up and felt like I need drugs. The good new is that I’m feeling a lot better today. Apparently it has be going around and I ended up getting it.

Our anniversary was on Tuesday. Do to my condition, I didn’t even feel like doing anything. So I’m hoping that we will celebrate later. Maybe tomorrow or next week anything that we do should be lots of fun. Theral got a puffy vest and another fleece pull over for the anniversary. I got a coat. It is a very pretty coat. I will post photos of them later.

I got sunburned last week while I taught. I took photos of it. It is a classic tan line. I even put on sunscreen. It was really hot and I sweated it off at my hair line. If it was worse I probably would have wore a hat to everything. I really don’t want to get skin cancer. I told Theral I could leave him if he ever got skin canner. It is the one cancer that can be prevented with sunscreen. I’m a white girl in the desert and I try and prevent sun damage. Plus sun damage makes you look old.

On too a new topic. Spring break is next week so Theral and I don’t have any classes. What will I do with him, probably make him do his homework. I talked to all my sister this week. I’m trying to get them to go home for my Mothers birthday in April. I believe that two months is plenty of time to plan on going home. I am amazed at the apathy I got from my one sister.

This is the most exiting post ever........ maybe

It is a miracle. Theral didn’t get pulled over by a cop last Saturday. I did ask him if I needed to drive to break the hoax. He said no and keep driving.

School is keeping Theral busy. He had a few papers that he needed to do last week. I on the other hand had a test. It really got my heart rate pumping. But I’m ok and it went well. I do have homework that is due Friday and Monday. I think that I’m going to have a go at it tonight. And Friday I have a pampered chef party at a friends house. So a few things are going on.

First, the garage door opener had a big boom and is not working. Theral worked on it and we need a new part. He has yet to order it. I might need to do that because as we were discussing options he asked how soon I would like it fixed. I said a twenty dollar part is better then buying a new one opener. So I can wait. I hope that this doesn’t turn into a 6 months venture. I’m already getting sick of opening the garage door.

We put permits into some rivers and guess what………….Neither one of us got a date. So I’m thinking we might hit the Middle Fork a few days before permits season starts. Snowpack for the basin is looking lean, very similar to last year. On the upside is that the Main Salmon looks like it is going to get hard and heavy. So we might not be able to hit that one until flows lower which means that we need to call and get a cancellation. So if you would like to come, keep the calendar flexible. If we do the Middle Fork when I’m thinking we will do it, would be the last week of May, as soon as Theral gets done with school. If I get a permit I will post and let the bidding begin. Who wouldn’t want to spend a week on the river with Theral and me….. We are fun, I promise.

We are also looking at buying a smaller raft. The raft we have is 16 ft long. The raft we are looking at is 14’ long and comes with a trailer. The trailer might be a problem for storage but we have come up with some practical and some very impractical locations for storage. It is smaller, which means that I should be able to man handle it. If not, I guess I will have to start doing more push ups to build the ultimate upper body strength.

My boss is in Washington, DC this week. He is back for two weeks. (Part of one he is in St. George) Then he jets again to West Bank and Gaza strip for two and a half weeks before he will get back in April. Work is going ok, getting a little worried that he is going to be gone again. I need to get some meetings set up and get some things figured out. I guess I get to do them on my own.

I’m staring to watch LOST. I got season one disc one from the video store and I’m going to get caught up. I figure that it is going to take me a few months if I watch one disc per week but by the time the nest season comes out I should be caught up. This is an in genius plan it you ask me.

The cops love Theral…………..

What do I mean by the statement above? Theral rolled into another ticket Saturday night. Apparently he didn’t stop long enough at a stop sign. The cop was lurking in a parking lot to stay inconspicuous. And then the lights came on. I did not realize what had happened until Sunday morning when I see the ticket on the kitchen counter. I fell asleep like a rock on the couch at around 9:30 and did move until the next morning. Theral tried to get me to come to bed but apparently I told him, “No, not yet.” All I remember is the no part.

I think that the cops in Logan are watching the area where we live a lot more. The intersection that he got the ticket at we have seen numerous people blow through it. So we just need to drive really good in the neighbor hood. On a side note, I think that Theral is going to fight the ticket. Two reasons, one Theral really did thought that he had stopped, and two His friend who is a part time police cop said that running a stop sign are the hardest tickets to prove. To quote my father, “Do you have any idea what this is going to do to my insurance?”

Moving on to other things. Theral got a snow day on Thursday. This means he didn’t have to go to work. He spent Valentines day doing what ever I wanted him to do………. He is a sweet heart.

Theral’s new ski boots showed up Thursday as well. His feet got a little numb skiing in them on Saturday. So we are trying to determine if we need to take them in after he wears them a little to get a better fit to his foot for him. I need new boots but that will be next year.

So I need to talk about ageing. The other day I had my hair pulled up into a bun. I thought it looked really cute. During a potty break at work I looked into the one mirror. Low and behold I saw a site that put the fear of god in me. A family of gray hair on my right temple.

To really understand why I might be worried about this you need to understand a few things about my genetics. My Grandma Fisher is in her 70’s and doses not dye her hair. She has gray hair but the color blends it in together really well. Theral didn't realize it was natural until I told him. My mother’s brother Darr was gray by twenty. He was married to my Aunt Brenda for 7 years before she realized that he was gray. He dyed it that well. My sister Jerusha’s (she is four years older then me) colorist told her that she was around 20-30% grey. That was around a year a go so it could be a higher percentage now. My own mother did not start to go gray until her forty’s. On my father side my Uncle Clair has always been very salt and pepper. His hair is snowy white now but supper thick. Below are photo examples.

My Grandma Fisher. Natural hair color people in her 70's. Very few people get that lucky. My sister Mariah might. Her hair is the same color as my Grandma's.

Uncle Darr. Over thrity years of gray. He has let it be natural for the last few years.

My mother. She gets in colored every 4 months. She is older then my uncle and is 54. Not to shabby

Sister Jerusha. This photo shows her hair the best. He colorist dose a really nice job. Jocelyn is playing with her hair.

So this much gray hair by 27 makes me worry that I’m going to be grey early in life. I might need to spend a lot of money on hair coloring to make me stay looking young. (I am really shallow about this, deal with it.) I feel like I got the shaft when it comes to the gray hair gentics in my family.

Theral had a really bad Saturday.

First off we woke up late. This meant we were pressed for time to get to Snowbasin. Theral could not find his cut off thermals. He search high and low and they did not show up. So he ended up wearing shorts. We get into the car and get less then four blocks from the house and we get pulled over. As the cop is coming up to the car, Theral informs me that he doesn’t have his driver license. Theral was speeding and going 40 in a 25. The cop gives him a ticket and off we went. Oh ya, that kinda made us a little late.

So today he is visiting the traffic Judge to take care of the ticket. It was his first ticket since he was 16. Up until he meet me I think Theral had a virtuous driving record. He has had a few accidents and a ticket since we got married. This June would have been a three year mark that took one of claims off his record. Let’s see how the ticket affects the car insurance.

Saturday wasn’t the best day for him. He is working on riding switch and wasn’t snowboarding as well as he would have liked. On a side note, I taught all day and only got one run in. I didn’t like the snow conditions.

We then went to Salt Lake to pick up a package from REI. I ordered a coat that I think (pretty certain) that I’m going to be sending it back. I needed to go to Costco and get some items. I saw one in Salt Lake that we drove by on our way to REI. To make a long story short. Theral and I got into a fight because we didn’t find it soon enough. I was keeping my mouth shut so we did get into a fight and Theral read my body language as me getting mad and upset. He stopped the car a block from Costco and tried to get me to drive. When he got out of the car, I lock the doors. I wasn’t going to drive. As we pull into Costco, I told him that I didn’t want to go in. He then continues to pull up to the doors to drop me off and gets the debit card from his pants and throws it at me. I told him that I wasn’t going in. He pulls up to the gas pumps. He throws the keys at me and gets out of the vehicle to pump gas. When he is done he throws the debit card, membership card and recite at me. Gets his stuff from the back seat and puts it into the trunk and then gets into the back seat. I get into the driver seat. Theral and I said a few words. I expressed why I thought he had gotten mad and he just yelled back at me. So in driving back to Logan, I was mad. I stopped at the Costco in Bountiful and threw the keys at him in the back seat and got out and went into the store all without saying a word. So shopping while you are mad is not a go idea. You rationalize certain purchase other wise you would never buy. In the checkout line I took around 60 to 80 dollars out of my shopping cart. As I’m leaving the store I see Theral coming from the bathroom.

I tell him hello and head to the car. We get the car loaded and I try to get onto the free way. After two failed attempts I decided that I was going to go eat at Pei Wei. As we are in line to order are food, Theral apologizes. I apologize and everything was good. Sorry that was a really long story. So Saturday was not Theral’s day. It helps to vent about it and to ponder on how I could have handle the fight better. (Probablly shouldn't have locked him out of the car.)

This week so far two of Theral's night class have been canceled. He is pretty stoked. It snowed a lot today in Logan. The weather service predicted 1 to 3 inches and we got 6 to 8 inches.

I talked with my boss and there is slight chance that I might get to go Iraq or Jordan for work. This is around five months out and it is a very slight chance. But I’m a little bit excited about it.

I did homework last night for my math class. I also had a quiz due today as well. I can do the math but it takes me a little bit to figure out how to do the problems. It has been a while since I have taken a math class. But I’m loving it. I’m learning so much.

Let’s talk about lengths of Family Reunions

My friend Monica called me and explained/complained to me that her family reunion this summer was going to be on a Monday and in Idaho. She was all worked up because First off, they are not from Idaho, and secondly family reunions should be on the weekends and not on Mondays which in my opion is the gospel. It is at Lava Hot springs in Idaho which is a fun place during the summer. They have a water slide and you can float down the river that is by it. She has to work during the week and to take work off to travel to Idaho from Arizona would be difficult for just a Monday. As a side not she is child 6 of 9. I did agree with her that Monday did seem like a very awkward day.

I then inform her about Theral’s family reunion that will happen in July as well. We got the call to tell us the dates. Normally it is a Wednesday through Saturday affair. I was hoping to only have to take two days off for it. I would work the fourth of July and switch it for one of the three days during the week. It is July 7 through the 11 and in Nauvoo, Illinois. So clearly, I can’t just take two days off.

As a side note, I love to go and do week long vacations. It is the most enjoyable thing in the whole world. This coming summer I already have big plans for some river trips, backpacking trips, and trips to the ocean. And just maybe the middle of Idaho for some flat water trips. So vacations days in my world are highly precious and to be used carefully. I do get more then most people with vacation days and that is one of the reasons that I took the job that I have.

So, if I used Monica’s logic for Theral’s family reunion, this is what the complaints would be. First, it is during the week and it is not just a Monday but a straight Monday through Friday affair. More time should be taken off for the traveling back factor. Taking that many days off might be problematic for a lot of people. Side note Theral is the 7 of 9 child. Second, it is in Nauvoo. They aren’t from Illinois. Granted they have had ancestor that did live and travel through the region, same for my side of the family as well. Why are we going to Illinois?

So out of the two Reunions, I would rather go to Monica’s. It is one day and at a hot springs resort. Theral did tell me I didn’t have to go. I’m still trying to work on a compromise. He is a teacher and has his whole summer off and so it is not a big deal for him.

Maybe for the next family reunion it could be only one day and at the Lava Hot springs resorts as well in Idaho. Theral’s family is from Idaho. One can only hope and dream.

Theral is a joker………….

This is a view of Logan Canyon from the Engineering building on the USU campus. Looks Gorgeous.

Theral crashed and opened some skin. So as it has healed it had developed a rather large scab. This is the main key to the story. I got home yesterday and Theral asked me if I wanted a cornflake that he had found. I told him no that I didn’t want it. In my mind I suspected that he gotten it off the floor or from some bizarre place. He asked me again if I wanted a cornflake and showed me it this time. I told him no again. He then informs me that it was his large scab that he was trying to get me to eat. I have the best husband in the whole world who tries to feed me from his own body. (I found this really gross and hit him, he just laughed and laughed at my reaction.)

So last week nothing to exciting happen to us. We didn’t go skiing on Saturday because I was not feeling well. But we did get the house cleaned. It is really nice to have a clean house. Theral pitched in and was a huge help.

Monday and Tuesday of the week passed rather uneventful. Wednesday, I went to the water initiative seminar on campus. It was about economics and in stream flow for fish populations. It was a really good lecture.

Thursday I taught at Snowbasin. In the afternoon I skied with Jim the whole time. I enjoy skiing with him because he goes hard and he pushed me.

Today, Friday, Theral got a snow day and didn’t have to go to work. We got around 12 inches of snow on the back patio. It is the most snow that I have ever seen here. So he is off skiing today. I should have gone with him but I needed to work. I was going to take a sick day and go. I love skiing. But tomorrow I will go skiing and it should be a good time.

Theral is piling all the snow into a huge drift. He is hoping to get enough that he can make a snow cave and sleep out in it. If that happens I am for sure going to document that event.

So I guess I should try and take some pictures…………….

Funniest thing about are weekend was our niece Mari Sol asking me, “Why is Uncle Bubbles hair so long?” To which I replied, “It is really curly and sexy and I like it a little long.” Then she told me that his hair is as long as hers which it is not but it could be if her hair got cut.

Our weekend was really good. Saturday I worked at Snowbasin. When we were rolling in Theral tells me that he forgot his ski poles and thus mine too. I head to the employee storage room to grab a loner pair for the day. Unbeknown to me, Theral drove all the way back to Logan and got the poles. He tried to find a sub for are Primary class and couldn’t. He tried to call the President and the numbers was not in service, stopped by the house and guess what no one was home. So he drove back to Snowbasin. Normally forgetting the ski poles would not have been a big deal but we were heading down to Brian Head for the rest of the weekend to spend it with my family.

So I turn on my phone and I have an urgent message from my nephew McQuade asking me where we were. I then called him and explained where we were and gave a time estimation for are arrival. As we were making the last little bit of the drive Theral informs me that he had driven that day what would have been the equivalent of driving from Logan to Las Vegas. I’m glad that I have a trucker for a husband.

Sunday, we skied Brian Head. The view from the top of the one lift might be the best view in the state in my opinion. The resort has some great green and blue terrain for beginners. The terrain was a bit of a let down for the advanced side coming from Snowbasin. But if you need to ski with a family the terrain was great. Theral and I raced in the race course three times. And of course I won. He is a little bit worked up about that. I’m skiing faster them him and he is having some “Skills deficit syndrome” jealousy.

We stayed at my sister’s cabin. It is really nice. We got the room down in the basement which was great. We didn’t have to share a bathroom. My niece Jocelyn and Jacee slept in our room with us. I had a shadow this whole weekend and it was Jocelyn. It like we had an umbilical cord.

On the drive home, we stopped at Swen and Stephanie’s so Theral could help Swen with his bike. Mari, Andalyn, and Callie were my best friends all over. Little girls loved me this weekend. I must have a touch.

So yesterday we got back to the grindstone. Theral worked on homework last night. Clint stayed the night and fell asleep on the couch. It was very non eventful evening.

Before I forget. I got a haircut last week and I hate it. I going to have to go in to someone else and have them do some damage control. I even went to someone that a friend highly recommended. It is not a bad cut but way to many layers in the back. I didn't get what I wanted. I hate getting upset by really bad hair cuts.

I came home from work.............

So Theral came home from school and his hair was like the Mexican flag. For those who don't know, Theral dyed the goatee and then colored his hair with Halloween paint for school right before Christmas for an assembly. He then got a snow day so the students didn’t get to see him. Theral trimmed the goatee but they got to him this week and made his hair look like the Mexican flag. So I'm going to post some pictures from the different looks. His goatee after he trimmed it looked like a leopard. Notice how curly his hair looks in the Mexican flag ones.

P.S. No he is not having an identity crisis as some people have speculated. He is merely being supportive of his students an having fun with it.

On Christmas Day. It looked better.

Mexican Flag Hair.

Look how curly his hair really is.

The goatee with blond tips.

Back of the clown hair/Christmas colors on drugs look.

I think that the picture tells the story its self.

This pasted week,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Some times life feels like that.

So I told you all about the weekend. So Theral is taking classes and working. I’m working and USU and it is Ski seasons and so to have ski benefits, I’m working at Snowbasin. In my eyes I am selling my soul, which might not happen next year. Time management is going to come into play big for us over the next few weeks.

The house needs to be cleaned and it has been on the “to do list” since the New Year and it hasn’t happened yet. Just cooking and doing the dishes sometimes takes up the evenings. I will be the first to admit that we could be more productive but both of us need down time such as watching movies, reading books, and surfing the internet looking up stuff.

I’m trying to get rid of the meat in my deep freezer. We have hamburger twice a week. I’m trying really hard to feed us from the stuff that we have. So if you have any good hamburger recipes send them my way. My favorite has been a chili skillet that I tried.

I’m getting some beef from a friend because he raises his own. It’s going to be good meat. So I’m trying to get rid of the old meat so I can enjoy the new meat.

So last week was not really eventful. We had a family dinner in Orem at Swen and Stephanie’s house. We made a black bean soup with sausage for the dinner part and desert I made a chocolate cake and cranberry jumbles. The cranberry jumbles turned out really good. The cake could have been better. But in trying new recipes I realize that not all of them turn out great. We stayed until 1:30 am in the morning. We then drove back to Logan. I tried to sleep but late at night I kept thinking that we were going to die and so my eyes keep coming open. It didn’t help that Theral hit the rumble strips a few times. I was tried from the previous three days where I didn’t get enough sleep. So yesterday I slept a ton. I’m not going to admit to the amount of time that I spent in naps and sleep because it was all worth it. I feel so much better today.

I can tell when I need sleep because the brain is not working right.

I feel really loved today. I have had calls from two sisters and my friend Tammie. So popular.

A graduate student ………….

The weekend
I went to work at Snowbasin on Saturday. Worst drive of my life getting there. It is amazing how many people drive badly in poor roads just because they don’t have patience. Me and the Sentra about got mowed over a few times. The snow was awesome and so worth being up skiing. But the drive home was fine and the road were plowed. Theral did not come with me. If he had I probably would have had a less stressful morning. Theral was staying home to represent us at a baptism. What a good little boy that he is.

I thought that he would have all the house cleaning done. (He told me earlier in the week that he would.) But I got home and he was looking really cute and told me all about flying his kites. How could a wife be mad about that?

Sunday we had church @ 9:00. Theral didn’t wake me up and so we missed sacrament meeting. Tag teamed the primary gig and home we came. I do want to point out that I have some issues with the primary and I need to talk to the Presidency about.

Monday came. Theral went to his first graduate class. I should have gotten pictures because I was so proud of my little boy. Three nights a week he is going to be gone taking classes. I think that it is great what he is doing.

Snow keeps falling in Logan. It is a magical time of year with snow and bad roads. I check the snowpack and the Bear River basin is slightly below normal. I hope that we get more snow so my flushing event this spring time can be long.

A cat named Simba

My friend Monica told me about this crazy cat that destroyed the picture that I sent out for Christmas. Below is the account via her mothers blog.

And who is this cat they were playing with? Simba! The Hawkins’ cat! I think she’s supposed to be Bevan’s cat, but they can’t have her at the cabin, and Lloyd and Beverly have gone away for three weeks, so she’s here. She’s an African cat, and she loves to purr, talk to people, and lick their faces. And she’s obsessed with Lizzette. No kidding–we received a Christmas letter from Lizzette and Theral, with a picture of both of them, and Simba went crazy over the picture. She did starfish paws on Lizzette’s face, and licked it, and sat on the photo. Then she chewed the edges. When I put the picture on the counter, Simba jumped up and got it again. Maybe Lizzette reminds her of Trisha, Bevan’s sister, who brought her home from Africa. Who knows.

I think that is pretty funny. A cat that I have never meet that loves me to death. Maybe Theral will let me have it. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

A New Year

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the people that read the blog.

So I’m posting to my blog. I should have posted over the holiday period but I didn’t so deal with it. If you are mad at me I’m sorry and get over it. I’m going to post and hopefully put some of my thoughts down about how the last 10 days have been for Theral and I. A side note: I love how spell check doesn’t recognize Theral or Lizzette and the words that they think we are spelling are priceless.

First things First. I love Theral with all of my heart. He is a wonderful man and best friend. I can’t imagine having anyone else. At times I realize that are relationship is very juvenile (Sometimes it is him and sometimes it is me) but we laugh enjoy each other and support each other. We can agree to disagree. We enjoy doing the same things. I am so blessed to have him.

So for Christmas we went to St. George to spend it with Theral’s parents and sister Larisa’s family. From this experience I really don’t want to spend it with them again. Maybe I’m being overly sensitive but I definitely got an unwelcome vibe, such as that we were intruding upon space and resources. I didn’t feel very welcomed. I’m used to feeling that when I’m their but I didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was.

I made a point to call all me sisters and parents on Christmas and wish them a merry day. Calling them made me feel better and that I was loved and wanted. We went over to my sister Mariah and Jerry’s house. The best time in St. George was absolutely visiting with them. Jerry is a good time and Mariah let me eat her homemade candy that she had made. What is better then that. I love homemade candy because it is a taste of Christmas for me.

When we got back from St. George we opened the Presents that we had left. It was so much fun and from that experience Theral and I might be spending the rest of our Christmases just the two of us. It was fun because we just had the Christmas tree lights on and snuggled on the couch while presents were being opened.

We went to his niece Laurens wedding on Saturday. We didn’t have a present ready so we dropped in off on New Years Eve. The wedding was a very nice affair. Talk with Stephanie who is one of my favorites.

For New Years Eve we went to Swen and Stephanie’s house. In my eyes New Years is about eating a lot of crap and playing games. This years I made it past mid-night. Last year I fell asleep at around 10:30. We skied for New Years. It was fun. So today we are both back at work. Having a long break makes me not want to come back to work.

I'm going to talk about resolutions later.
